  • Chemical Treatment (Optional): In some cases, a chemical called phenol may be applied to the nail bed to prevent the problematic section of the nail from growing back.
  • Dressing: The toe is then bandaged to protect the area and promote healing.
  • Aftercare: The procedure usually takes around 10 minutes per toe. You leave with aftercare advice and a follow-up appointment to check healing.
Recovery from nail surgery is typically quick and straightforward. You may experience some mild discomfort and swelling for a few days, but this can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication and keeping the foot elevated.
